Heritage Baptist Church was founded by a single man in Ulm, Montana in 1980. He had been reading one of John R. Rice's Sword of the Lord publications and was convicted of the importance of becoming a soul-winner. He, along with a few others, was encouraged by the late Pastor Dick Dion of Fairview Baptist Church to get a local ministry started. They began the church on August 2nd in one of the members' homes in Ulm.
On August 12, 1982, Pastor Sheldon Schearer and his family moved into Great Falls, Montana to take the pastorate for Heritage Baptist Church.
As the number of Heritage Baptist Church's members grew, they were forced to move their services into one of the buildings used for Treasure State Academy. Eventually, the church family raised enough money to buy their own property and purchased the currently owned and operated facility. It included two large buildings with a total of 8 acres of land.
Dr. Schearer has become the Senior Pastor since then, now serving alongside Pastor Rick Komondor, and has seen the church grow and flourish under his ministry. Many men and women have continued to follow the Lord's calling into full-time service as pastors, missionaries, and Christian workers.
Heritage is dedicated to helping people in need, both in Great Falls and around the world. We are actively working to support those who preach God's Word near and far and aim to make a positive difference in their lives by sharing the Gospel.
